Season alignment for strong nervous systems

Womindjeka,

It has been an exciting start to 2026. We’ve begun the year with strong engagement in Boonwurrung cultural learning across our summer season, partnering with early learning centres, secondary schools, universities, organisations and Councils including Sacred Heart Mission, ECMS, the City of Casey, Monash University, and St Leonard’s College.

This week we are sharing our Relational Calendar story with National Indigenous Times doing a segment about the importance of this cultural systems tool.

“This calendar is a deeply thoughtful and connected way to move through the year with Country, as it invites you to ‘come as you are."  - Emma Forsyth Head of Pedagogy, ECMS

We are now moving through the time of Weegabil nye-wiiny (Old Man Sun), when the warmth of the days remains strong while evenings slowly begin to cool. The days feel full, rivers are lively, and the gathering and smoking of eels brought people together in preparation for the coming season.

Seasonal learning on Boonwurrung Country reminds us that healthy landscapes nurture healthy communities. When people learn in rhythm with Country, it supports wellbeing, strengthens learning, and builds emotional resilience for children, families, and communities.

If this way of learning resonates with you, we invite you to explore the 2026 Boonwurrung Seasonal Calendar for the season ahead.

Created for families, educators, organisations, and anyone wishing to live in closer relationship with Country, the calendar is available through individual, single-site, and multi-site licensing options.

If your organisation is considering a deeper partnership, we welcome a yarn.
