ABC This Place: The Boonwurrung Journey

We’re proud to share that Biik Bundjil is featured in ABC This Place, a beautiful new episode titled “The Boonwurrung Journey.”

The story traces the pathways of our Ancestors across Boonwurrung Countr, from the Werribee River following the coastline to what is now known as Williamstown, then travelling along the Maribyrnong River to Solomon's Ford, the closest foot crossing on the Maribyrnong.

From there, the journey continues through Boonwurrung Country, crossing the Rock Falls on the Birrarung (Yarra River), where the Aquarium now stands, before arriving at Ceremony for the women at Monmonmaar (Point Nepean) and for the men at Wamoon (Wilsons Promontory).

Each step follows an Ancestral Songline, connecting waterways, stories, and sacred places that continue to hold spirit and law today.

To speak this truth is not to deny the histories of other First Peoples.

It stands alongside them, adding depth, balance, and understanding, ensuring that the voice of Country is seen, known, and remembered.
